Match Preview: Rebels vs. NYPD (May 14)
The Albany Rebels will face NYPD on Saturday, May 14 at 4:00 p.m. at MJQ Irish Cultural and Sports Centre in East Durham, N.Y. The match will be 15 a side as it will be played on a regulation sized GAA field.
The Rebels, coming off their first win of the season, have only faced NYPD once before. It was a friendly that combined players from Albany and Syracuse back in 2016. NYPD won that match 3-7 (16 points) to 0-5 (5 points).
"We're looking forward to reconnecting with NYPD after quite a few years, and the rare experience of playing 15 a side on a full pitch will be invaluable for everyone on the team," said Rebels player-coach Ryan Moloney.
Rebels Notes: Albany’s last match was a 4-11 (23 points) to 2-4 (10 points) victory at Dutchess County on April 30 in Lagrangeville, N.Y. … Ryan Moloney leads the Rebels in scoring this season with 2 goals and 5 points (11 total points) ... Paddy Loughlin is set to make his Rebels debut on Saturday ... NYPD will host the Rebels for a postgame party immediately following the match.
