Match Preview: Rebels at Hartford (9/29)
The Albany Rebels will face Hartford in their final match of the season on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Irish American Home Society in Glastonbury, Conn. It is also a last chance for the Rebels to defeat Hartford this season.
Albany lost a home and home series for the inaugural Greenwood Cup in the spring, and then squandered an early lead in a loss at home last weekend.
“It’s been an up and down season for us so it would be great to go out with a win tomorrow,” said midfielder Mark Adam.
The Rebels have an overall record of 4-10 this season (2-3 in full-sided matches, 2-7 in tournaments), most notably winning the New York Cup in the competition's second year.
Part of the challenge has been replacing some prominent departures from the offseason. But the club has added new and dedicated players to the roster with eight making their debuts this year.
"The turnout and intensity has been unbelievable for this late in the season and the number of rookies consistently in our lineup is higher than ever, both of which are very encouraging signs," said forward Ryan Moloney. "The Rebels will be traveling strong and hope to end the 2018 season with a big win."
The Rebels will travel a squad of 18 players including four rookies.
