Tim Gerrish Named Rebels Coach
Tim Gerrish was named the new coach of the James Connolly Albany Rebels at the club’s Board of Directors meeting on January 4. He replaces Cillian Flavin who stepped down in December to assume the club’s Chairperson role.
Gerrish is entering his fourth season with the Rebels. He won the team’s Rookie of the Year award in 2014 and has been a solid player and team leader ever since.
“I’m looking forward to the upcoming season, especially after such a successful year in 2016,” Gerrish said. “We have a great group of guys who continue to improve.”
The first decision for Gerrish was to name Flavin and Mike Lee selectors, or assistant coaches.
The Rebels went undefeated in full-sided games last season (five wins and one draw) and 3-9 in tournament play. The club continues to train this winter with upcoming sessions on January 20, February 17 and March 10.
